Brockville Rowing Club

Bantam Rowing

What is Bantam Rowing?

Our Bantam Rowing Program is designed to help transition interested campers along the Brockville Rowing Club's pathway of becoming a competitive, high-school/club athlete.

The main goal of the program is to continue to foster a love for the sport of rowing. On top of this, we aim to further develop a members general athletic ability, as well as their rowing specific skills they learned in camp.

Typically, this program runs for 4-6 Weeks after our Summer Youth Camp has ended, and it concludes with a local, fun, skill-specific "race" with local clubs and/or members of the BRC itself.

Upon the end if the Bantam Program, interested athletes are encouraged to begin rowing in either a Development or Competitive program, depending on their age and interest.

For any additional questions, please reach out to us at: info@brockvillerowingclub.com

Bantam Rowing is designed for athletes in the 11 - 14 age range, who have completed our Summer Youth Camp.

After participating in our Summer Youth Camp, members and parents/guardians will be contacted with next steps on how to join the Bantam Program if there is interest.

If your child did not participate in our Summer Youth Camp, no worries! They can instead look to join one of our Development Programs

The Bantam Rowers train three times per week over the 4-6 week duration of the program.

Two sessions are rowing specific weekdays after school, and the third is a club-wide strength workout in our gym on Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM.

If your child cannot make all of the practices, it's no big deal. We ask that participants do their best to attend all the practices they can, however we understand that the athletes are busy.

Depending on your child's schedule, it may be better to wait and have them join a Development Program when they're able to attend more practices.

In this age group, the emphasis of the program is not on competing and performance. It's about individual improvement and creating a love of rowing.

Any "competition" that the Bantam Rowers take part in are meant for personal growth and development, as it's the best way to learn about the sport!
