BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Michael O'Shaughnessy
President
Michael joined the Brockville Rowing Club in 1965. Michael followed his father, Peter, who had joined in 1943, and his grandfather, Michael, who joined in 1906. Michael's sons, Matt, Dan and Ben, also rowed with the Brockville Rowing Club. His brothers (Patrick and Peter John) and sisters (Mary, Sheila, Sharon and Anna-Marie) also rowed with the Brockville Rowing Club, as have many of his nephews and nieces. Lately, his granddaughter, Etta, has started to row, participating in the rejuvenated summer camp. Michael joined the Board in March/2024 and has been involved in the hiring of the new Head Coach, William Mulcahy, and working towards the rejuvenation of the Club. Michael practices criminal law in Brockville, Ontario.

Cathy Mulcahy (Lockhart)
Director, Secretary
Although never a rower herself, Cathy was a proud supporter of her three children’s rowing careers. After four successful years at the BRC, James became the men’s heavyweight rowing captain at Columbia University, and is now the Head Coach at the University of Miami. Rachael applied the dedication and work ethic she gained at the BRC to her career as a successful nurse. Will rowed at Queen’s University, completed his Master’s, worked with Row Ontario, and has now returned to the BRC as Head Coach. Cathy joined the Board in 2023 with hopes of paying back even a little of what the BRC did for her family. Cathy is a licensed insurance broker currently working remotely for an Ottawa firm.

Dave Boyd
Director, Treasurer
Dave has been coaching at the Brockville rowing club for over 25 years, and has served on the BRC Board of Directors since 2004. Dave is also the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors at Row Ontario, and sits on Rowing Canada’s Fees and Dues Committee. Dave’s sons, Brandon and Kurtis, both rowed at the Brockville Rowing Club and were both Canadian National Team rowers. Dave lives in Brockville with his wife Susan.

Kurtis Boyd
Director
Kurtis joined the Brockville Rowing Club in 2000. He went on to represent Canada four times at the World Rowing Championships. After graduating from Mercyhurst University, he returned to Brockville and coached at the club for several years. Kurtis joined the Board of directors in 2016. Kurtis is the General Manager at Boyd International in Brockville, Ontario.

Margot Bak
Director
Margot joined the BRC in the 1970's, which paved the way for all three of her children to become rowers later on. Margot decided to return to the BRC in a supportive role in 2010, and shortly afterwards became a member of the BRC's Board of Directors. Since then, she has done an excellent job with planning events for the club, and looks forward to continuing this into the future. Margot and her husband, Paul, have owned several businesses in the Brockville Area, and she is now enjoying her retirement working out at the BRC.

Alex McMurray
Director
Alex joined the Brockville Rowing Club in 1997, thinking that maybe she could be a coxswain. Dee Moore had other plans and Alex ended up finding herself in the bow seat of a 1000 pound wooden eight. Under the steady hand of Doug, Chris and Phil Marshall, Alex was part of many exciting Brockville crews, with some favourite Golds being the 4 at English Henley in 2002, the heavy women's 8 at Schoolboy in 2000 and 2002, and the CanAmMex pair gold in 2001. Alex is still good friends with many of her crew mates and fellow BRC alumni and credits the club with teaching her a lifelong work ethic. Alex lives in Calgary, Alberta and still comes back to her home on the river as much as possible. Alex joined the BRC Board in 2024 to help the Club win some golds again.
Jean McFeely
Director
Jean began rowing with the Brockville Rowing Club (BRC) after attending a Summer Rowing Camp shortly after immigrating from Ireland. Instantly hooked, she joined all available camps that summer and later rowed competitively for Brockville Collegiate Institute (BCI) and the BRC. Jean worked as a Camp Instructor and Coordinator and competed on numerous teams, including the Canada Summer Games in 1993, where she won gold with Team Ontario Women’s 8+. She earned academic and athletic scholarships to Mercyhurst University, where she won gold at the 1995 Champion International Regatta. Jean holds degrees in Sports Medicine and Kinesiology and now teaches in the Allied Health department at St. Lawrence College and Iohahi:io in Akwesasne.

Deanne Moore
Director

Craig Reilly
Director
Craig joined the Brockville Rowing Club in 1999, winning three Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association (CSSRA) championships and one Royal Canadian Henley gold before competing for four years with the Princeton University Men’s Heavyweight Rowing program. At Princeton, Craig medaled at the Eastern Sprints regatta and raced in two Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) grand finals. Craig now lives in Buffalo, New York with his wife (also a Princeton rower) and three children. Craig works primarily in Buffalo and New York City as a tax attorney with Hodgson Russ LLP, returning to the Thousand Islands as often as possible. Craig joined the Board of Directors in 2024.

Peter Snelgrove
Director
Peter has fond memories of attending the BRC’s summer rowing camp as a child, which sparked his passion for the sport and fuelled his love for being on the river. He went on to row for both Brockville Collegiate Institute (BCI) and the BRC, competing in men’s flyweight and lightweight categories. A highlight of his rowing career was when he and his crew medaled at the Canadian Schoolboy Regatta in 2006. Peter feels fortunate to have been coached under the club leadership of Doug and Chris Marshall, and continues to stay connected with many of his high school rowing teammates to this day. Since graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a business degree, Peter returned to Brockville and joined his Father's business. Peter became a member of the Board of Directors in April 2024.

Eileen TenCate
Director
Eileen started at the BRC in 1992 as part of the rowing camps, joining as a high school member in 1995-2000. She was the first of her family to be a rower. At rowing she created a lifelong friendship with her best friend and honourary sister Laura Adamson-Donner. She continues to work out at and around the rowing club to this day. Eileen is honoured to serve her rowing family in a new way as a board member starting in April 2024.
