St. CATHARINES, ONTARIO: The Brockville Rowing Club made a strong and inspiring return to the 141st Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, held August 4–10 in St. Catharines. With over 3,000 entries and clubs in attendance from Canada, the United States, South America, and New Zealand, Henley once again proved to be a highly competitive showcase for elite athletes and crews from across the globe.
The BRC sent six crews and eight athletes, all of whom placed in the middle of the pack or better in their respective events — a remarkable showing given the high calibre of competition.
- U17 Women’s Double: Rose Lafrance and Serena Bryan placed 31st out of 62 entries.
- U19 Men’s Double: Liam McAllister and Ben Dewal placed 50th out of 77 entries.
- U19 Women’s Double: Olivia Mack and Cora Van Es placed 43rd out of 77 entries.
- U17 Men’s Single: Sean Currie finished 19th out of 66 entries.
- U17 Women’s Single: Rose Lafrance won her heat and finished 13th overall out of 72 entries.
- U17 Men’s Double: Rowan Jacobs and Sean Currie placed 19th out of 49 entries.
Head Coach Tyler St John praised the crews for their determination and resilience:
“Each rower demonstrated the integrity and grit that defines our club culture. These crews performed above expectations and represented the Brockville Rowing Club with pride. Henley officials were thrilled to see Brockville back at this iconic regatta.
What makes this performance even more special is that most of these athletes have had less than a year of training — and even less time training together on the water. We’re incredibly excited to see what the coming year holds for both the club and these young rowers.”
Coach St John also recognized the vital support of his coaching team: Bryce Gordon, Thomas Gordon, and Kaitlyn Henry — whose dedication has been instrumental in the athletes’ progress.
