Development Rowing
What is Development Rowing?
Our Development Rowing Program is designed to help new rowers learn about the sport of rowing on a supportive, semi-competitive pathway so that athletes without any experience can join and thrive.
The main goals of the Development Rowing Program are to teach new rowers basic skills specific to the sport, and to further develop these skills in an age appropriate manner. We aim to continue to develop general athletic ability, while also taking strides towards more competitive rowing opportunities for those who are interested.
This program runs year round, and acts as a catchment for those interested in learning about rowing who haven't necessarily done our Summer Youth Camp. Depending on the time of year, many member of our Bantam Program may filter into our Development Rowing Program. In many ways, Development Rowing is a extension of our Bantam Program, targeting a wider audience of new rowers.
Depending on an athletes age, experience, and interest, they are able to join our Competitive Rowing Program after spending some time as a Development athlete.
