Brockville Rowing Club Acquires Kaschper 8+ from Trenton Rowing Club

The Brockville Rowing Club is pleased to announce the acquisition of a gently-used Kaschper 8+ from the Trenton Rowing Club. This "new to us" boat marks a momentous addition to the BRC's fleet, further enhancing the club's ability to support youth programming and its long-standing annual Summer Camp for young rowers.

"We’ve been without an eight in our boathouse for some time, so it’s exciting to know we now have the capability to row larger boats again, as we once did," said Will Mulcahy, BRC’s Head Coach & Head of Operations. "This acquisition represents a step forward for the club and means we can get back to putting larger crews together for training and competitive programming, as well as for our annual summer camps.”

Over recent years, the BRC has focused primarily on placing athletes in smaller boats, allowing beginners to learn the fundamentals of sculling. While this development method will continue to be a key focus, the addition of the eight will now allow the club to offer both sculling and sweeping options, and provide a more comprehensive training experience for rowers.

"By reintroducing sweep rowing in the eight, we can now work to develop our athletes into well-rounded rowers who are proficient in both sculling and sweeping,” says Will. “It also promotes teamwork among youth who are getting into the sport… One unique aspect of rowing is that it can be an individual sport or a team sport. There is no better feeling than waking up before the sun rise and meeting 7 of your crewmates, plus your coxswain, down at the river for a training session - or even better - crossing the finish line after a well fought race, as one machine, in an eight full of your fellow crewmates and friends.”

The Brockville Rowing Club continues to build on its rich history of rowing excellence and is excited to offer even greater opportunities for youth to get involved in the sport.
